DAY FOUR



India desperately wanted to reduce the lead and was lead by Zaheer who scored 57 * and India ended its first innings with a score of 360 Anil Kumble and Ishant Sharma supported Zaheer Khan and added some important runs. Aussies with a lead of 70 runs started their innings and soon had Mathew Hayden in pavilion after scoring 13 runs was bagged by Zaheer Khan again as he trapped him LBW. Zaheer has dismissed Hayden six times - in each innings of a Test match twice - Nagpur in 2004-05 and Bangalore in 2008-09. Ishant Sharma had First Innings centurion Ponting caught by Laxman after he scored 17 runs. The First Innings centurion Mike Hussey with Katitch added 50 runs for the Third Wicket before the latter fell to Harbhajan caught by Laxman after scoring 34 runs of 189 balls. Ishant Sharma then had Michel Clarke caught by Shewag for 6 and Harbhajan sent out Hussey back to pavilion when he misread a “Dhoosra” which went all the way to his the stumps. Haddin Joined Watson in the middle Indians wanted to bowl out the Aussies and would have wanted a easy chase as the Aussies where 128/5 leading by 198 runs at that point. But haddin and Watson gave no chances and they added some valuable runs. Kumble was away for 103 minutes because of Shoulder injury and M.S.Dhoni was captaining the side in his absence and Kumble came back after sometime and bowled seven overs. Aussies Finished day four with 193/5 on board with Watson (32) and Haddin(28) were there in the middle. Ishant was the pick of the bowler with 2 wickets and Harbhajan too shouldered the responsibility in Kumble’s absence and he scrapped two wickets where Zaheer had one wicket to his name. The Aussies where leading by 273 runs.
